We are excited to announce the Board of Supervisors has approved the creation of the CARE Team and Program in San Joaquin County. CARE, which stands for Community Assessment, Response, and Engagement, will be led by the Probation Department. Chief Steve Jackson and Assistant Chief Emily Hammond presented a model to the Board of Supervisors, requesting they introduce this program to our county.
CARE combats homelessness by harnessing the collective efforts of a multidisciplinary team comprised of various partners within San Joaquin County. This structured program aims to consolidate homeless outreach initiatives under one comprehensive umbrella, enabling us to extend our support to as many members of our community as possible.
“I am grateful for the support of the Board of Supervisors to implement a CARE program in San Joaquin County. Probation Officers are uniquely balanced in their approach to law enforcement and social service agents; that has allowed us to develop working relationships county wide with our law enforcement partners, county departments and community-based organizations. I look forward to the work ahead to improve outcomes for our residents.”
Chief Steve Jackson
