Assistant Chief Emily Hammond began her probation career in 2001 with the Stanislaus County Department. She was hired by the San Joaquin County Probation Department in 2022.
During her career, she has held a number of positions and has had the opportunity to work a variety of assignments, including High-Risk supervision, Courts, Investigations, and School Resource Officer assignments. She has supervised teams of officers in High-Risk Field Supervision, School Resource assignments, Backgrounds, Internal Affairs and grant projects. As a director, she managed Adult Probation, Community Corrections Partnerships, and Juvenile Institutions.
She was instrumental in developing a Narcan program for probation staff, expanding evidence programs, developing a community partnerships team and developing a Division of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) Realignment Program.
Assistant Chief Hammond was previously selected for the Probation Officer of the Year and Supervisor of the Year awards. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from California State University, Stanislaus and has received a number of professional certifications.
Assistant Chief Hammond strongly believes in promoting positive change, making victims whole, and keeping our community safe.
